Chapter 3: The Name Nobody Remembered
Emily turned over the next photograph.
It showed her mother standing beside a young woman with dark hair. They were smiling, their arms wrapped around each other.
On the back was a name.
Anna.
Emily searched the box again and found a hospital bracelet bearing the same name.
Then she unfolded the second letter.
Richard,
I know you believe you did the right thing. You convinced yourself that keeping the truth from Emily would protect her.
But silence doesn’t erase what happened.
Anna was our daughter, too. She deserves to be remembered.
