We can offer Aaron a more appropriate option.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I looked across the kitchen.<\/p>\n<p>Aaron stood beside the staircase.<\/p>\n<p>He could hear everything.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat kind of option?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have an extra graduation outfit available.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe already has clothes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A pause followed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re trying to prevent a difficult situation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aaron reached for the phone.<\/p>\n<p>I handed it to him.<\/p>\n<p>He listened quietly.<\/p>\n<p>Then he said,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you, but I\u2019m wearing the dress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another pause.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo. I understand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He ended the call.<\/p>\n<p>I stared at him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can still change your mind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He picked up the garment bag.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI won\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then he added,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI already sent them Mary\u2019s graduation photo.
