My husband brought home a stranger and asked me to let him stay just one night

The letter was short.

Robert confessed that he regretted the decision.

He said that, regardless of blood, Daniel had been his son and he would always remain his son.

But he wrote something else:

“If one day you have the courage I didn’t have, tell him the truth. I don’t want my hatred to become his legacy.”

Daniel has read that phrase three times.

Then he sat down and started crying.

I had never seen him cry like this before.

Michael didn’t come close.

He didn’t try to hug him.

He just stood in front of him.

“I’m not asking you to call me a father,” he said. I’m not asking you anything. I just wanted you to see me once before I left.

Daniel raises his eyes.

He looked at her like a man who had returned home.

That morning, Michael didn’t leave.

He stayed for breakfast.

Then at noon.

And in the next few weeks, Daniel started visiting him.

He never called him “Dad.”

At least not at first.

Michael was calling it.

They also did a DNA test.

The result confirmed what the letters had already said.

Michael was my husband’s biological father.

But the thing that surprised me the most was Daniel’s reaction.

One night he said to me:

I thought the truth was going to take my father.

– Robert?

He nodded.

But he can’t. The man who raised me is my father. It’s just that now I know there was someone else who lived the whole life with the consequences of that story.

Michael died almost a year later, not a few months later, as doctors had estimated.

In the last week, Daniel has been standing by his side.

One afternoon, when he thought Michael was sleeping, I heard him say:
